NYC Christopher St. at Bedford St. 1906

Taken on February 16,1906, a cold Friday judging by horse's breath. This is at the corner of Christopher and Bedford, in Greenwich Village, looking south. L. Charack, the shoemaker, was charging 50 cents for men's heels and soles and 35 cents for ladies and children. The buildings in the photo are still there; the corner store is now (July 2005) a Peruvian Restaurant named Lima's Taste. The trolley tracks have been paved over, and it's a lot harder to find a parking spot.
